I heard from my colleague Jane Kostick that the occupants of 574 Boston Ave need to be out in 6 months, as the owner intends to "repurpose" the building.
For many years, 574 Boston Ave in Medford has been home to a plethora of artisan woodworkers, painters, instrument makers, and antique restorers. I had shop space there from 1995 until 2010, and got to know some very talented individuals. Many of them will likely leave woodworking rather than go through the trouble of finding and setting up another shop. Others, though, will find new homes.
Like Jane. Jane is a mathematician-woodworker, and she creates amazing geometric forms whose names I can't pronounce. What I like about her work is how seemingly complex shapes can be created by a single element repeated in a simple pattern. Check out her website for examples of her work.
