Office Storage Designed Around Work Style
There are two great ideas in this Newton MA office, designed around how the client files his class curriculums.
The first idea is how to end a desktop and a run of bookcases before they meet in a corner. It's an awkward and impossible detail to do and have it look right. Solution: make a tower storage unit the same depth as the desk. End the bookcase at the tower. Nice and neat. Second idea: use pantry pull-out hardware to make a specialized filing system that fits the way the client stores his teaching materials. The pantry pull-out box is divided into cubbies sized to the accordion files he favors. Each file is a complete lesson, and the most-used lessons live here, where he can easily find them. |
In this case, if the baseboard moulding height had been matched, there would only be 4 file drawers instead of the 6 here. When aesthetics conflicts with function, usually function should prevail. It's a win-win situation in this Newton MA Victorian.
